A message from Brittney:
“Victory” depicts a victorious Christ. The idea for this image came to me during the Easter season while I was thinking of what the the Atonement and Resurrection of Christ means to me and my family, as well as the world. Each year in Idaho, the brutally cold winters seem so long, sometimes it feels like warmer weather will never come. I would long for the ability to take walks outside, sit in the grass, and feel the warm sun on my skin. But each Spring, a group of tulips grow in my yard in front of my house, and when I see them start growing out of the snow, I know the warm weather is coming. I imagine it felt this way when they saw the empty tomb after Christ’s resurrection. They knew the coldness of death and the weight of sin would soon come to an end. In my piece I have included Easter symbolism such as Easter lilies which signify purity and innocence, white tulips which signify forgiveness, respect, purity and honor and well as other Spring blossoms which signify regrowth, renewal, and rebirth. This piece depicts the triumph of Christ’s resurrection and defeat of death and sin and the sure peace that came after Christ mission was complete and the peace mankind can feel because of it.
