When I think of Christ’s interactions with children, I imagine them being full of life and joy. A feeling of peace and reverence accompanied by curiosity and playfulness. It is said that to be Christlike is to be childlike, I imagine Christ embodied each of these qualities that allowed Him to so deeply connect with each child. Children recognize light, they draw near unto the good, there are no labels, no preconceived ideas or judgments, no limitations to love, and are quick to see the beauty in others.
We see in the intricate creations of God, that beauty is highlighted in diversity, the way it was always meant to be. Each child is born with their own unique personality, appearance, and divine purpose. All so individual in their own significant way, yet valued and loved so equally in the sight of God. In Him, all are one, all are His, and all are invited to come to Him.
