Solitary Place Original Artwork
16 X 20 Oil on Board
Over and over again I come back to the theme of Christ praying. I am fascinated by the accounts of Christ praying in the scriptures. The accounts that touch me the most are those that depict Christ praying alone. As a new mother, I struggle to find time to be alone to have those meaningful moments of prayer. I believe Christ’s example of making it a priority to find those moments is paramount to our spiritual health and ultimately our ability to fulfill the needs of those around us.
Ultimately, ‘solitary place’ is a misnomer. When Christ sought to be alone, he was truly seeking a connection with God. He was seeking a relationship that would strengthen him. I believe that if we seek that place we will also find the connection that can strengthen us and allow us to continue on in the drudgery of everyday life. What we may find is that miracles follow, just as the miracles that followed from Christ’s seeking connection with Heaven.
