Story Behind the Art

We aren’t the only creatures fascinated by the world around us. Artist Chris Young was working on a painting that required he bring a Koi into his studio. His dog walked in and soon the Koi and canine were in a stare down. The fish made a sudden move and completely spooked Chris’ little Greyhound – so much so that the dog did not return to the studio for days.

For Dane and Fish Chris chose to replace the Greyhound with a Great Dane for the juxtaposition and impact of both size and color. Not only are we attracted to the work by the stunning visual he has created, but also by the fact that we see a little bit of ourselves in this encounter.
