When the Israelites left the bondage of Egypt and began their journey to serve the Lord, He went with them as a shadow by day and a pillar by night. I’m not sure what that looked like, but I love that they had a visible sign in the heat of the sun and the darkness of night that Jehovah was with them along the way. He comforts us as needed in any circumstance if we choose to stay close to him.
